REACH (Registration, Evaluation & Authorisation of Chemicals)
The New EU Chemicals Legislation (EC 1907/2006)

The new legislation regarding chemicals (EC 1907/2006) came into force effective 01 June 2007 and affects all companies producing, importing, using or placing products on to the European Market.

The aim of REACH is to ensure a high level of protection to human health and the environment from chemical substances. The regulations will give greater responsibility to industry to manage the risk presented by chemicals and to provide safety information on all substances. The benefits of REACH will become apparent as more and more substances are phased into REACH.

It is intended that all substances that require registration will be pre-registered by our upstream suppliers. Subsequently, it is intended that all substances which require registration will be registered, within the timescales illustrated by the Regulations.

At present, there is no plan to withdraw any product as a result of registration issues, and we have not been informed of any material withdrawals via our supply chain.

Koito Europe Ltd. is fully committed to meeting all of the legal obligations placed under REACH, and have taken steps to ensure that the implementation of REACH is managed efficiently by appointing responsible persons to co-ordinate REACH activity.
